Ellen Moon has never strayed far from her roots with the Clinton Figure Skating Club since she began skating in the early 60's. She graduated from Clinton High School, MVCC and Utica College, with a BA in Physics, earned her MS from SUNY Albany in Math Education, and taught at Whitesboro for over 33 years. As a junior skater, Ellen competed successfully in the few local competitions available at that time, earning medals in freestyle and figures. Ellen has also maintained her professional status; she is a member of the PSA (Professional Skaters' Association) and has passed her Basic Accreditation and Sports Science exams, the Registered and Certified Level Oral exams for group ratings, and the Registered Level Oral exams for moves in the field and free style. In addition, she regularly enrolls in workshops around the country to keep abreast of the current trends in the sport. Presently, she teaches students ranging from Basic Skills to High Freestyle. Ellen is justifiably proud of her daughter, Taylor, who has completed her American and Canadian gold dance tests, her senior moves-in-the-field test, and her senior free style test, becoming one of a very few quadruple gold medalists in the area. Currently Ellen is also an adjunct instructor at Utica College.
